Travel, go places. You can always make money but you can’t make memories by staying still.

It feels great if we have something we can always look back and reminisce. When we travel, obviously we need to make the most of it while we can. Despite travel most of the time means expense, there is always a way to go about it. To me, I will spend the money if the travel is worth spending for. I will go for it as long as it helps build a lasting memory. Money can’t buy memories. Wouldn’t it be nice to look at a picture 3 years from now where you have travelled with your friends and family to certain places and had a lot of fun, would it?

Personally to me, travel creates memories to last a lifetime if we do it the right way. I don’t quite look at travel as going places but more to the activities we’re going to go after when you’re there. The adventure of that moment that stands out, which creates happy memories.

When we first started traveling around the region, we drove our friends and family crazy constantly by talking about what we did on our latest trip. We could never stopped talking about those, until we can replace those memories with new ones. Here are several ways we do it to live the moment, the moment of happy memories!

Activity-based travel. As much as we love to go to great tourist spots, we love adventure more. We love to see the unique nature of that place, the hidden gem side of it, enjoy a swim in the beautiful rivers or waterfall they own, experience the activities their beach side has to offer, trekking down the hills and mountain they proud of. To us these would create much more, meaningful moments than other normal places. This way we can live the moment and capture the different type of fresh air, the flora and fauna and the rest of the ecosystem that comes with it.

Create new friends. To do all that, there is no way we can find it in Google or tourist guide book somewhere. So we normally do it by finding a local friend there. There are many portals available in the internet that offers local experience to travellers. We really take advantage of this portal and enjoy the experience of the lifetime. Trust me, it is all worth it.

“Instead, try spend most of your time not to take these photos or selfies but to live the moment. Enjoy it first hand, breath and live it. Don’t let that precious moment to slip pass you by.”

Don’t focus on taking pictures too much, live the moment. As travellers we all love to take photos of all the wonderful sights we see. The habit is awesome, no doubt about it. My advice is, try something different. Don’t overdoing it. Instead, try spend most of your time not to take these photos or selfies but to live the moment. Enjoy it first hand, breath and live it. Don’t let that precious moment to slip pass you by. If you really want to do it, better do it over a video mode rather than pictures. If you decide to take advantage of the local friend who brought you to those places, get their help to snap those pictures and videos on your behalf.

Travel souvenirs. Souvenirs can be from the natural beach’s sand you were at, that special poster you found in one of the local night market, that weird looking leaf you found while trekking the jungle, the river stone or anything you found so unique when you’re there that you think you can’t find it elsewhere.

Don’t just ‘travel’ there, live there. Live there is when you go deeper into the town or city. You visit the special places, enjoy the street food the local loves to go, spend time talking to the local people, experience their night market, ride a bicycle around town, hang out with local people learn about their language, learn to cook local delicacies and many more. This is how I do it with my friends and families. Local friends really help on this part, especially where to go at what time. Obviously I can avoid travellers’ trap all the way.
